Port Melbourne Hostel

Goldie was Pat Larkin's beloved dog. She adored him and looked after him with utter devotion.

When Pat died, everyone at Port Melbourne hostel was bereft; Pat had been such a central figure. It was as if everyone's love for Pat then transferred to Goldie. She became the Hostel dog.

Residents and staff alike went out of their way to look after her.

As Goldie aged, she needed more care.

Staff developed a Care Plan for Goldie then, as she grew more infirm, a Medication Chart was developed and staff would sign it off to ensure she got consistent attention.

Pat and Goldie

Finally, in March 2014, at close to 16 years of age, Goldie died.

Her ashes were scattered with Pat's - both of them treasured members of the Port community.
