Homelessness Week has now passed, and the winners of the Art Space 2020 People’s Choice Award have been selected.

Visitors to the Art Space were encouraged to vote for up to five of their favourite artworks in an online survey. The Award received over 110 votes, an excellent result.

Congratulations to Wintringham artists, Catriona for her winning piece My Little Pumpkin, Ted who came second with his piece The Village, and Krystal, who was our randomly selected voter. Catriona, Ted, and Krystal have each been awarded a Melbourne Artists’ Supplies voucher for their efforts.

The fifteen winning pieces for next year’s calendar and this year’s Christmas cards were announced on Wintringham’s social media channels throughout Homelessness Week and can be viewed here. Production of the 2021 calendar is currently in progress, and will be distributed to Wintringham’s clients before Christmas.

A limited number of calendars will be available for sale to the general public. If you would like to express your interest in purchasing one when they become available, please email the Wintringham Communications Team at communications@wintringham.org.au.

The Art Space online exhibition will remain online for your viewing. You can access the Art Space at www.art.wintringham.org.au.

3 August 2020

Homelessness Week 2020 has begun, which means that Wintringham’s Art Space 2020 is now live and the People’s Choice Award is open for voting.

View over 80 artworks, along with numerous artist and staff profiles at the online exhibition here: www.art.wintringham.org.au

After viewing the artworks, visitors can show their support for up to five of their favourite artworks in the People’s Choice Award online survey. The survey will only be open until Sunday 9th of August, and prizes will be awarded to the winner, runner-up and a randomly selected voter. Vote here.

We are very pleased to announce that Melbourne Artists’ Supplies are generously supporting this Award by offering up $500 worth of vouchers in prizes, as follows:

  • 1x $200 Melbourne Artists’ Supplies voucher for the winner
  • 1x $150 Melbourne Artists’ Supplies voucher for the runner-up
  • 1x $150 Melbourne Artists’ Supplies voucher for a random voter

Melbourne Artists’ Supplies stocks a range of professional quality art and craft supplies. They have locations in Brunswick, Melbourne CBD (temporarily closed due to COVID-19) and East Hampton. They also do phone and online orders through their website.

In addition, the annual Calendar & Christmas Card Art Competition has already been judged and 15 artworks have been selected. Thirteen of these artworks will feature in the 2021 Wintringham calendar, while two will feature in the 2020 Christmas cards. The calendar and Christmas cards will be produced in the coming months and will be distributed before Christmas.

The Wintringham Art Show traditionally takes place during Homelessness Week to break down the stigma associated with homelessness, and remind people that those who have experienced or been vulnerable to homelessness have so much talent and heart despite the many difficult experiences they’ve endured.

In support of Homelessness Week 2020, Everybody’s Home and Homelessness Australia are asking MPs to build more social housing. If you’re interested and want to support the cause, visit their website.

2 July 2020

The much loved Wintringham Art Show will take place online for the first time in 2020, with all artworks being showcased on a dedicated website, which is set to launch on Monday 3 August.

Every year, Wintringham receives dozens of entries from clients for the annual art show. Our residents and clients work hard to create their pieces often through Wintringham’s art therapy and recreation activities. Our recreation staff assist by photographing and submitting their works. We received a wide range of artworks this year, including paintings, drawings, sculptures, crafts and poetry.

A team of judges comprising; Lyndy and Lucinda White from the Peter & Lyndy White Foundation, artist Dot Lipmann AM, and Deputy CEO Michael Deschepper have reviewed all artworks, and 15 pieces have been chosen to appear in Wintringham’s 2021 calendar and 2020 Christmas cards. The winning pieces will be announced along with the launch of the website, from the 3rd August during Homelessness Week.

Additionally, we have introduced a People’s Choice Award in 2020 to give visitors to the website a chance to choose the artworks they love. Visitors to the website will be able to vote for up to five of their favourite artworks. The People’s Choice winner and runner up will receive a prize for their efforts. Furthermore, all voters will go into a draw for the chance to win a prize for their contribution.

Voting for the People’s Choice Awards will be open from 3–9 August, also during Homelessness Week.
