Residents from four Wintringham Residential Aged Care homes recently enjoyed a memorable holiday on the Gold Coast, bringing together adventure, connection and plenty of special moments.
The group, including Bryan and Kearin (from McLean Lodge, Flemington) Daniel, Morgan and Derrin (from Port Melbourne), Lyndsay (from Williamstown) and Henry (from Gilgunya, Coburg), spent time exploring local attractions, enjoying the coastline, visiting Surfers Paradise and sharing experiences with residents from other Wintringham homes. Along the way, new friendships were formed and many lasting memories created.
The holiday also provided some meaningful personal moments. Bryan was able to catch up with family, while Daniel revisited the neighbourhood where he once lived and reconnected with a long-time friend. For others, simple pleasures such as relaxing by the pool, spending time at the beach and enjoying each other's company made the trip just as rewarding.
While residents enjoyed the sights and sunshine of the Gold Coast, staff from across Wintringham worked together to make the holiday possible. The trip was supported by many teams behind the scenes, from planning and logistics through to operational and clinical support. During the holiday, Recreation Coordinator Cara, Enrolled Nurses Jenny and Divi provided hands-on support, ensuring residents could travel safely, comfortably and make the most of every experience.
"This was a huge team effort involving staff from across Wintringham. Seeing residents relax, have fun and enjoy the holiday without worrying about everything happening behind the scenes made it all worthwhile," added Cara.
For everyone involved, the holiday was a resounding success, and one that will be remembered for years to come.
