Earlier this year Wintringham created its first dedicated Social Work team, providing specialist support to clients on a Support at Home package and Commonwealth Home Support Program clients.

Social Workers assist clients with a range of issues, including housing insecurity, mental health, family concerns, access to services, aged care planning and financial hardship. The service helps clients navigate challenges and connect them with the support they need to improve their wellbeing and independence.

Since this dedicated team of five social workers began services in January, and since then, the Social Work program has received over 170 referrals, reflecting the growing demand for specialist support across Wintringham's services.

Home Support Projects Manager, Tracey Wegner said, “In just a few months, the team have supported clients experiencing homelessness, elder abuse and financial hardship, assisting with housing applications, advocacy, financial counselling referrals and access to practical support services.”

“The team have already been able to tangibly impact the lives of older people, helping them navigate complex circumstances, and access the services they need to remain safe, secure and connected to their communities.”
